Kotare Place: Reimagined Living
Crafted with care from the foundations up, this coastal retreat is a complete reimagining.
Location: Kaiteriteri, Tasman (New Zealand)
Completed: 2024
Highlights: Timber carpentry, stunning glazing
Set above Little Kaiteriteri, this home was rebuilt from the foundations up — a complete reimagining that reshaped both form and function. What began as a modest coastal dwelling is now a thoughtfully crafted retreat, designed to make the most of its site, light, and view.
Nelson Builders approached the project with care and attention to detail. The structure was extended and reworked using durable, high-quality materials throughout. Clad in a mix of weatherboard and lightweight concrete panels, the exterior balances strength with a relaxed, coastal feel. Inside, every junction was carefully resolved to support flow, comfort, and longevity.
With four bedrooms, multiple living areas, four-plus bathrooms, and a separate games room, the home offers space to connect — across seasons and generations. Seamless indoor-outdoor flow completes the picture.
This wasn’t just a renovation — it was a fresh start, built with pride, and shaped by place.
“Every challenge in this build became part of its story – and building it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.”
